Bulking Up For Winter



   It's that time of the year again, it's time to say goodbye to your beach physique and put on some critical mass!!! For those of us looking to get big, winter is the time to do it! I've lost a lot of my good summer cuts, but I'm lifting big and still have plenty of energy for cardio, admittedly though my favorite back exercise the pull up is losing a few reps with the extra weight, but I'm working on that! Here's some of my bulking tips:



  • MORE PROTEIN!!! I'm doing at least two protein shakes daily and put boiled eggs/egg whites in them. Check out that recipe here. Or but the protein at our online store.
  • Lift heavy, but not too heavy, you are trying to bulk as opposed to power lifting, so make sure while lifting heavy you are still incorporating a decent number of medium range sets, and a few high range sets.
  • DO NOT STOP CARDIO! It's not going to destroy your gains to do 20 minutes of cardio. It will be detrimental though to your health and endurance.
  • To get bigger, you need to eat bigger. Don't go binge out on pizza, but don't necessarily calorie count either. You are going to need to add calories in the way that works best for you. Whatever bad food you craved all winter, this may be a good time to indulge in a bit.
  • Use the mirror and scale as judges. Are you getting too fat? Or is the gains worth it? Do you have a body fat digital scale to measure if the gains are muscle or flab?
